Aliso Viejo City Information

Aliso Viejo is Orange County ‘s newest city, officially incorporating on July 1, 2001.  It was the first planned community in Orange County and it was designed to accommodate middle and upper-middle income home buyers.  Aliso Viejo started out with 7,600 residents in 1990. Even though builders were constructing homes, condos and apartments at a high speed, the demand was so high that there were waiting lists and lotteries held for individuals and families eager to be a part of Aliso Viejo. By 2000, the population had increased by over 32,000 residents, making it the top city in population growth in Orange County.  Currently, Aliso Viejo has an estimated population of 43,000.

Aliso Viejo boasts of picturesque canyons, rock formations, oak and sycamore groves, a fresh water wetland area and miles of hiking and biking trails with more than 90 species of birds may be enjoyed at the Aliso and  Wood Canyons Regional Park.  The 3,400-acre park borders three sides of Aliso Viejo. Another attractive feature of the community is the Aliso Viejo Golf Club which provides three nine-hole courses offering a rich variety of challenges and landscapes.
